Responsible for handling audit assignments that may be complex or sensitive, and for providing direction to less experienced audit staff.

Perform risk assessment and analysis on the Bank’s accounting, finance, treasury, information technology and business operating units, including wholly owned subsidiaries.
Plan and execute internal audits of the bank’s business and operating units outlined above. Evaluate risk management practices and adequacy and effectiveness of internal controls within the unit.
Summarize results through written audit reports that provide instructive commentary on improving risk management and internal controls.
As may be necessary, supervise staff and senior auditors in the planning, execution and reporting of internal audits.
Supervise and perform audits in an effective, time efficient manner.
Maintain close relationships with business and operations managers to recognize emerging risks created through either internal or external change factors in the business or organization’s risk dynamics.
Participate in a program of professional development.
Support as necessary outside auditors and bank examiners.
Interact with Compliance Officer, and maintain high level knowledge of banking regulations and laws required to perform compliance testing.
While performing the essential functions of this position, the employee is regularly required to type using a computer terminal. The employee may be subject to repetitive motion while operating the computer and/or phone. Will be expressing, receiving, and exchanging ideas via a phone system. The employee must be able to prepare and analyze figures.
Makes decisions on a daily basis regarding the quality, accuracy and correctness of audit material presented to Firstrust by customers, prospects and others in regard to the audit department policies.
This position is accountable to the EVP – Internal Audit, and is responsible for ensuring that Audits are conducted in the highest professional manner consistent with the policies and procedures of Firstrust, applicable laws and regulations, and sound banking practices.
Specific goals will be set annually in writing with EVP – Internal Audit.
BA or BS degree in Business Administration with a major in Accounting, Finance or Economics.
Either five or more years internal audit experience in a financial institution with exposure to commercial and retail banking products and operations; 5 years financial institution experience with exposure to bank operations, bank systems, finance and/or information technology.
Strong relationship management skills developed through regular interaction with senior management.
Strong written and oral communication skills.
Sound understanding of risk management and internal control assurance principles.
In depth understanding of banking laws and regulations.
Proficient personal computer skills using spreadsheet, database, and word processing software with the ability to develop skills using report writer software.
Intermediate computer skills in the Microsoft Office (Word, Excel and Outlook)
