    Support the commercial lending areas by preparing and reviewing commercial loan documentation to ensure loans and letters of credit are documented in compliance with the approval, bank policy and all applicable rules and regulations. Provide support and service for business banking, business finance, commercial, SBA, construction, and diversified lending areas. Produce effective and timely servicing of all commercial loan business products from settlements through post-closing follow-up.

    Responsibilities/Duties

    Assist in the development of new business for Firstrust. Possesses knowledge of corporate products and services and is alert to expressed customer/prospect needs to suggest appropriate services. Directs customers to appropriate person to open account. 

    Prepare loan documentation for all types of business banking and commercial loans using LaserPro, ensuring transactions meet all terms and conditions of the credit approval and comply with the Bank’s credit policies and all applicable rules and federal regulations. Transactions will be structured accurately based upon the credit approval, outlining terms to repay the debt and secure lien perfection on all collateral. 

    Review entity formation documents to determine the appropriate individuals are authorized to sign loan documents on behalf of the entity. Review due diligence materials (i.e. property searches, flood determinations, UCC searches, title commitments, appraisals, environmental reports, etc.) to effectively prepare loan documents.

    Prepare standby letters of credit using pre-approved customized documents, ensuring transactions meet all terms and condition of the credit approval, comply with the Bank’s credit policies and all applicable rules and regulations.

    Prepare change in terms agreements to loans that were prepared internally.

    Prepare modifications/amendments to loans that were prepared by outside counsel.  

    Perform the pre-closing quality control review of all loan documents to ensure accuracy and compliance with bank policy, the approval and all applicable federal regulations. 

    Provide support to lending and branch staff pertaining to loan structure and its compliance with regulatory and credit policy requirements. 

    Prepare boarding sheets for the loan boarding team for all types of business banking, commercial, construction, and SBA loans that were prepared both internally and by outside counsel. Review all essential documentation prior to loan funding, ensuring file is prepared for closing and ready for boarding meeting all bank policies and procedures.

    Review and verify all loan disbursement information by contacting relationship manager, attorney or title insurance company to verify wire instructions. Obtain loan disbursement approval and forward to the loan boarding team with pending loan package and loan set-up sheets to ensure loan is funded in a timely manner.  

    Acts as liaison between lenders, portfolio managers, loan operations, counsel, title companies and other vendors to facilitate and expedite loan closing.  

    Determine appropriate approvals are in place, and loan structure is in accordance with the bank’s policies and procedures. 

    Assist in the development/review of departmental procedures relating the duties performed by the documentation specialist. 

    Other Duties as assigned by the Team Leader or Loan Administration Manager.

    Essential Functions

    While performing the essential functions of this position, the employee is regularly required to ascend/descend stairs and position self to lift and/or place files.   Sedentary work involves inspecting loan documentation, analyzing data and operating a computer terminal with repetitive motion. Some amount of mobility in order to accomplish tasks is necessary. The employee is expected to be able to converse with internal and external customers and exchange information

    Knowledge - Skills & Abilities

    5+ years of experience and knowledge of commercial loan documentation

    Knowledge of federal regulations that govern commercial loans.

    Experience using documentation software (LaserPro) preferred

    Intermediate skills with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel and Outlook)

    Works well with others and contributes as a team player

    Paralegal experience preferred
