  • Objective

    Order appraisals of commercial real estate for bank personnel. Must be able to advise Bank personnel on matters of type of appraisal, types of values needed and required valuation scenarios. Must be able to communicate requirement to external fee appraisers and to know which service providers are most appropriate for a particular assignment.

    Responsibilities/Duties

    • Perform technical or compliance reviews of commercial and residential real estate appraisals for compliance with law and policy and for reasonableness and quality. Can competently understand and review real estate taken as collateral by Apex.
    • Modify values in appraisal, if qualified, when warranted and support the decision to do so according to USPAP and FIRREA requirements
    • Structure appropriate draw schedules for loans closing with repair escrows.
    • Perform moderately high level of complexity internal evaluations/validations
    • Review needed repairs estimates and corresponding insurance claim documentation for collateral that experiences damage.
    • Consult with Bank personnel on all matters of real estate valuation, market data and risk assessment.

    Essential Functions

    Must be able to work independently to achieve objectives while still maintaining open and regular communication with the Vice President, appraisers and coworkers.  Candidates must be able to communicate in a timely, professional and confidential manner.  Analyze the impact of decisions before executing them.  Make and implement decisions compatible with organizational goals.  Support decisions with appropriate evidence and rationale.

    • Ability to present important and vital information to the Vice President, REO Specialist and clients in a clear, concise and purposeful manner.
    • Possess strong written and verbal communication skills.
    • Ability to identify problems and then create viable solutions in a timely manner.
    • Strong attention to detail.
    • Ability to manage various reports.
    • Excellent follow up skills.
    • Team player that demonstrates a positive attitude towards self and others.
    • Willingness to learn and adapt to changes.
    • Preferred candidates will have 5 years of appraisal or appraisal review experience.
